As stated on the first page of this thread and almost certainly on every other page after that (tl;dr) EVE is not your ordinary MMO.
I've been playing EVE since '03 and in that time I've tried numerous other games single player and multi player but EVE is the only game that I find is consistently fresh and fun to play. Why? Because its not your normal game where once you get to a certain level you are a god. Ever played Quake 3 Arena and the first thing that happens when you "appear" is that some F***-head kills you with a single railgun shot to the head? Now thats frustrating but I recognize that the game allowes that kind of mastery of the its self, I don't go posting on a ID-software forum that the game should be tuned down in some way so that I can play the game better.
In EVE you at least get some help in the begi get a boost to your training untill you reach 1,6 mill sp if I'm not mistaken. You are in a wardec free NPC corp but now, thank CCP, you pay a tax just to make it less appealing (hey nothing in New Eden comes for free). The only thing that a noob could do to get him self killed is to fly into a 0.4- system (or possibly be unlucky enough to get hit by a suicide gang in highsec which has never happened to me EVER and I don't spin ships all day). Sure your ore could get stolen from your can when mining but thats just more insentive for you to apply for a player run corp so that you can have guards standing by when something like that happens able to kill the thief (My advice is to just not mine at all! Who in their right mind pays to mine in a video game? Chribba sure but he's the Trit God, thats different).
I was listening to the new Epicbattleaxe's new Epicbattlecry podcast (I'm in no way affiliated with them) this morning and they were talking about that now a days gaming isn't what is once was. Now every one is playing games. Your mother, father, siblings, even grandparents in some cases. And thus games in general are getting more and more streamlined to suit every type of gamer. The first thing that popped into my head when I heard that was "F*** No not EVE!!" and I feelt some kind of pride building up inside me that I was a EVE player, a player that stuck with a game that the mindless, unthinking mass of players out there think is awefull because they aren't perfectly safe in it and they actually have something to loose instead of just respawning right away without any loss.
So in short; Go play WoW if you want the cuddly stuff without any risk and leave EVE to the real players that want this kind of risk and adrenaline rush and stop trying to ruin our game.
